Preamble
Established in 2008 and incorporated in 2009, Kitbag Consulting is a social enterprise based upon experienced, like minded, well credentialed public and private sector practitioners who have come together to network, share and trade their thoughts, insights and experiences to satisfy our client's business needs.
More of a cooperative network, employment risk is shared within the group with a commitment to Quality outcomes and continuous professional improvement.
Primarily, Kitbag Consulting is the members company to win and conduct business.
Kitbag Consulting is a consultancy and responds to Requests for Quote from Panels by harnessing the power of its people, methodologies and tools in the areas of:
- Governance Review & Evaluation;
- Strategic Performance & Risk Review;
- Acquisition & Procurement;
- Business Modelling Analysis & Improvement;
- Change Management;
- Process Mapping, Integration & Automation;
- Program & Project Management; and
- Financial Management & Cost Modelling.
Also when clients request the support of individuals from a talent pool, we are able to accommodate this on a time and materials basis.
How do I get work through Kitbag Consulting?
Again, Kitbag Consulting is your company to use to win and conduct business.
Cooperative members can bring work to Kitbag Consulting or get work from Kitbag Consulting.
As a requirement to join, prospective members furnish permission to aggregate CVs, then Kitbag Consulting applies its methodologies and past credentials and for inclusion onto Panels.
Tasks from Panels are circulated to the cooperative membership.
We ask that you place Kitbag Consulting as your employer and list engagements as subordinate tasks on LinkedIn to build gravitas for us all.
How do I work with Kitbag Consulting?
Membership in itself is not an offer to work.
When you take up an engagement, there are two methods you can be employed by Kitbag Consulting; as a sub‐contractor or as a casual employee.
- Sub‐contractor. If a member wants to use their own company, we raise a sub‐ contractor agreement. The cooperative member is then responsible for PAYG taxes, super, insurances, BAS, IAS etc. Proof of insurance coverage is required to be employed under this arrangement.
- Casual Employee. Most cooperative members are employed as direct casual employees. Kitbag Consulting will look after taxation and superannuation out of the revenue the member generates.
We raise a casual employee contract (Fair Work Commission complaint) and issue payment summaries and lodge the notification with the ATO etc. This is the dominant and cheapest method for cooperative members to be employed. It is also ATO 100% compliant.
Kitbag Consulting is the legal entity entering a binding arrangement with the client.
Sub Contract or Casual Employee Agreements are raised when the cooperative member has an been successful in securing an engagement as terms and conditions flow from the head agreement from the client. In each instance.
What does it cost?
There is no cost to be a cooperative member.
A fee is charged when you become engaged by Kitbag Consulting.
This model was agreed by the cooperative membership in December 2013 as a business development initiative.
Do I get any holiday pay/ sick leave?
No. Membership is not an offer to work. Once a cooperative member becomes a casual employee, you do not qualify for these benefits as we pass on the majority of your rate so we hold no provision for holiday or sick pay i.e. your higher income is to cover the times between jobs. Your casual employment contract will clearly reflect this.
Do I get paid Superannuation?
Sub‐contractors pay their own superannuation. We pay causal employees superannuation from their revenue generated.
Can I claim expenses?
Yes, if the client approves these expenses, we will forward an invoice on your behalf with accompanying receipts. We will not take any fee from this money.
When do I get paid?
You will be paid once the client pays their bill by electronic transfer into your bank account. This will be determined by the billing frequency.
