Reporting to the KC-30A Engineering Operations RAMSS Team Lead, the RAMS Engineer will support and develop Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and System Safety (RAMSS) engineering deliverables and outcomes for the KC-30A Fleet using industry accepted RAMS analysis methods and tools.
The RAMSS S&A activities are ultimately concerned with outcomes that enable KC-30A Enterprise tactical and strategic decision making and development of solutions in support of fleet and maintenance planning, supply chain priorities, obsolescence mitigation actions, engineering operations and capability development. As such, a key part of the RAMS Engineer role involves engaging collaboratively with other RAMSS specialists, System IPTs, Fleet Planning, Capability Development, Operational and Logistics functions. The RAMS Engineer will be responsible for formulating solutions, based on RAMS analysis and root cause investigations and make recommendations to KC-30A Enterprise stakeholders for solutions to obsolescence & RAMS system degraders.
The position of RAMS engineer will also support and work closely with the RAMSS Life Cycle Cost Analyst to monitor and forecast Total Cost Of Ownership, obsolescence risks, and assess value for money of Engineering Change Proposals and Capability Development business cases within the KC-30A Enterprise.
To achieve these purposes, the RAMS engineer will engage with multi-discipline function domains such as the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program, Reliability Program, System Safety Program and other IPT functions within the KC-30A Engineering Operations IPT Teams.
The KC-30A RAMS Engineer will also engage and collaborate with other SMS platform specialists as required to develop and support RAMSS SME capabilities and business processes across NGA SMS.
Role challenges:
- Dynamic nature of customer and operating environment may change requirements.
- Emerging airworthiness, reliability and obsolescence issues due to aging aircraft and systems.
- Support to capability development planning including obsolescence impact analysis to support management decisions in short time frames
- Quantitative analysis with limited data sources to support Enterprise VFM cases in short time frames
- Balance of routine program deliverables and non-routine customer support requests.
- Engaging with RAMSS peers and stakeholders within the wider NG SMS network to develop, improve and support SMS RAMSS capability and processes.
Essential: Bachelor of Engineering degree specializing in the Aeronautical or Mechanical stream.
Desirable: RAMS engineering qualifications or certifications.
